TV Show-Heavy Update

Hello peeps!

I was going to film a video for this week but I honestly didn't know what to film. I was thinking, maybe a tag video would do, but my brain wasn't quite up for it. I want my videos to be entertaining and interesting, and filming them half-heartedly is not what I want to do. A video schedule is not something I have at the moment so I will try to upload when I can.

First thing happened a couple of days ago: In The Flesh was cancelled by BBC 3. I can't express how disappointed I am at this decision. It was truly an amazing show, and the fandom fought very hard to promo it to others and make sure it won the polls from various platforms. To be frank, it kind of sucks considering we were left off at a very dramatic cliff-hanger; now we will never know why they were digging up Amy's body, or what Siren will become. There has been the tag #renewintheflesh floating around Twitter and Tumblr lately, and people are trying to get other networks to notice the show and pick it up. As much as I would absolutely love for that to happen, it is quite unlikely. RIP In The Flesh, you were a fantastic show while you lasted.

On the theme of TV shows, Agent Carter premiered early this month and I am IN LOVE. I've always loved culture from the 1900s and the show combines that with the kickass-ery of the MCU. Hayley Atwell is the perfect Peggy Carter, and the other incredible actors compliment her so well. So far only three episodes have come out and apparently only eight in total are going to come out. A HUGE fingers-crossed that the network orders more episodes because it is a really great show. Besides, I can't have another show die out on me; first The Carrie Diaries, Selfie, and now In The Flesh. Argh :-/

“Her trademark look is the red custom ladies Stetson Stratoliner hat, a burst of color in a sea of grey fedoras. Working in man’s world she needed to stand out, and she did that using color in her wardrobe.”

Quick fanart for Agent Carter! Simple but pretty fun to do.

I've been watching yet another show this month but I want to save it for my monthly favourites! If you know me then you'll probably know what it is ;-)

Yesterday I had a free day to myself so I went around doing some shopping. I don't care to admit how much I actually bought (eep - lots of nail polish!) but maybe I'll do a haul video in the next coming weeks?

Ok, gosh, there is ANOTHER show I've been watching this month, I've just remembered. My lips are sealed for now!

A couple days ago I watched a Meghan Rosette Q&A video where she said she wasn't quite happy with how her channel was; she didn't want to just stick to the beauty and fashion genre. I got me thinking about how I wanted to present my posts and videos. I suppose I don't go into any particular category but I'm actually fine with that. I want to do a bit of everything because I have so many interests and it's fun to try out different things.

Lastly I changed my Tumblr url from icygirl.tumblr.com to runcold.tumblr.com. I haven't been as active as I was during winter break but I do go on every day to reblog a little!

Not much of a post today - my thoughts are all over the place - but just a little update on what's been going on my screen. That's all for today and I'll be back next week! x

Topshop Lip Polish: Twin

Hey guys!

This week was the first week back to school, and I have to say it went better than I expected! I guess I was dreading some huge situation but in reality it didn't happen. Phewww.

Today's post is on a lip polish from Topshop. I bought Twin after my sister did; I loved the colour when she showed it to me so I decided to pick one up for myself (I make the 'twin' joke every time, and every time she rolls her eyes at me). I believe it's from the Autumn makeup collection, but in Hong Kong I'm not too sure if the makeup comes out in collections.

Once again, first up is packaging: it's safe to say that I absolutely LOVE the packaging! The actual tube is a sleek shiny black with matte black stripes and matte black lettering. It looks much more high-end than it actually is and it's a nice size, not too chunky or slim.

The product twists up, your standard lip stick mechanism.

You might be thinking, God that's a dark shade! At first it shocked me a little but the actual tint is not as dark; I'm not yet brave enough to sport a bold Lorde-esque lip! I would describe it as a plum that leans towards red. A coat gives a nice lick of colour but it is build-able and can give you a full plum-not-quite-burgundy lip. I've got quite small lips so after I apply it I like to blot it out a bit to avoid looking like Miranda Sings.

The texture will be a bit off the first time you use it, but it does glide on well after a few times of use. On the lips it's a lightweight formula with some shine to it. The product is not particularly moisturising so prepping your lips with a lip balm beforehand will help.

Overall I like this lip polish: the packaging rocks and the colour payoff is great! I'm almost certain that it's available in all Topshops around HK so look out for it when you go near a store. If you're shopping online treat yourself to one here.

That is all for today, I hope you have a nice day and I'll see you next week x

DIY: Watercolour Jewellery Dish

Hello there!

Today I have a DIY jewellery dish for you that I have been seeing constantly on Pinterest. The watercolour design makes for a great display piece on where you can organise random bits and bobs. It is not at all hard to make so let's get straight into it!

You will need:
1. nail polishes of your colour choice
2. small white dishes/plates
3. a bowl big enough to put your dish/plate into*
4. paper towels and kebab sticks for cleanup during the making process

I used purple polish for the actual DIY

*sidenote - you will be dropping nail polish into this so make sure it's not a bowl that you use for eating!

1. Fill your bowl 3/4 way with water. Ensure that your dish is clean and has no residue.

2. Place a drop of nail polish into the water, and wait for the drop to spread out and expand. You can speed it up by blowing at the polish drop.

3. Once you have your desired spread-out-ness (totally did not make that phrase up ;-)), dip your dish into the nail polish layer and take it out of the water with a scooping motion. How this all works is that you are making the layer of polish cling to your dish, creating a pretty watercolour effect.

4. Wait for a few minutes for the polish to set, then you can repeat the step above as many times as you want to get the look you desire. This is when you can switch up the colours and layer the polishes. To get rid of the remaining polish on the surface of the water, if any, use a kebab stick to sweep it out.

5. Let your dish dry and set for at least 5 hours. If there are parts of the design that you aren't satisfied with, use nail polish remover to remove it (as you can see from above there are some dots of teal which I removed later). Spray a clear coat after everything is dry.

I love how the nail polish spreads; it creates a wonderfully unique watercolour design. You can use your dish for anything: jewellery, daily essentials, those darn bobby pins and hair ties that keep running away on their own! These jewellery dishes make a great birthday present for a friend, or something for you to keep and display.

Tomorrow is back to school for me from winter break, and I have to say I'm slightly nervous. I am almost certain that when I get back, my brain will be mush and I won't be able to remember anything. Ahhh, the joys of being a teenager!

That's all for today and I'll see you next week xx
