March Favourites

s
February flew past so quickly, it was only yesterday I realised that I had to complete my monthly favourites! I switched to filming my favourites a few months ago, but I thought I would take it back and write a post for you today. Here's everything I've been loving throughout February!
s
Crossbody from Forever 21 - I picked this bag up during this month, and it quickly became one of my favourite bags. I don't own any other brown bags so I thought it would be nice to purchase. It's the perfect size; small enough as a cross body, and big enough for all the essentials. The design reminded me a little of a Rebecca Minkoff bag, so maybe that's why I like it so much!
Urbanears headphones - I bought this pair of headphones last month as a birthday present to myself. The colour is a lot like Essie's 'DJ Play That Song' - a nice bright, jammy purple - and the quality is pretty good. They come in handy when I'm studying or editing a video, because they block most unwanted noise out.
Cool Amazon Rain shower gel from Bath and Body Works - After smelling this scent in Dudes, I was hooked. I decided to go for the travel size bottle first to try it out, and I really like it! It smells of coconut and mango, and is very refreshing on the skin. I'm pretty sure I'm going to go back soon and pick up a full size.
'Stand By Your Gun' by George Ezra - This track is sooo addicting; it's been stuck in my head for quite a while now. George Ezra is a pretty amazing artist overall and I love his music!
Ed Sheeran - Ever since going to his concert early this month, I now have a much deeper appreciation for his music and songs. I mentioned 'Photograph' last month and a few others previously, but most of March was 'Drunk' and the rest of '+' on repeat. There was definitely a different vibe on his first album and I quite like it. Praise Ginger Jesus!
Revlon ColourBurst Laquer Balm in 105 Demure - A very pretty pinky peach shade with a hint of shimmer, this balm is my go-to lip product. It's kind of a 'my lips but better' colour, not too in-your-face, and easy to work with. I've found myself reaching for this every time I go out.
Willow Shields on Dancing With the Stars - I find it so cool that there are so many people out there who are younger than me and have achieved amazing things. Willow Shields joined season 20 of DWTS and is so far killing it! She has all the moves down and I'm excited to see how she progresses throughout the season.

How are you all liking the new template? I'm pretty happy with it so far and I hope you are too!

See you! x

June Favourites

Hey guys :)

First order of business: SUMMER.

IT'S HERE.

SCHOOL IS OUT.

AHHHHH!

So you might have noticed a little change in the title. I have decided to change from Monthly Music Favourites to monthly favourites because I like all kinds of stuff :) I want to talk about beauty products, clothes, apps and books. Obviously I'll still be writing about music, and I'll build it up from there.

Let's begin!

Music

1. 'Brooklyn Baby' by Lana del Rey
'Ultraviolence' came out this month and I really like 'Brooklyn Baby' from it. Lana del Rey presents us with a list of vintage-y, edgy songs. Her music style is one that I've never really come across before, and it's so unique.

2. 'Wicked Games' by The Weekend (HugLife a.k.a. DJ Slink remix)
A while back, a dance group at school performed to this song. They were awesome and the song stuck in my head. Early this month I found it and I was so excited! The singing has a whimsical vibe, but paired with the beat, the song changes from dreamy to edgy.

3. 'Cool Kids' by Echosmith
I learnt about this song off Bethany Mota (Macbarbie07 on YouTube) when she did her monthly favourites. The lyrics to this song are so meaningful and relate-able, and Echosmith is a cool band. It's made up of 4 siblings, ranging from 15 to 21. So young, so talented (and Sydney is absolutely gorgeous♡)

4. 'Cardiac Arrest' by Bad Suns
This song is insanely catchy, I'm not even kidding. It's fun to sing and dance to, so what's not to love?

Everything else!

1. This brush
This has to be one of the BEST hair brushes I've ever used. Like I said last week, I'm a total sucker for packaging and the colours on this are so cute! It works just as well as a Tangle Teezer, and it's WAY more affordable. I purchased it from Forever 21 last week and I use it everyday *obsessively brushing hairt*

2. This topcoat
I posted about this topcoat a few weeks ago and since then it has become my holy grail topcoat. I painted my nails a few weeks ago and then practiced a solo section on the guitar. Normally, my nails get wrecked by the strings. With this topcoat on, my nails stayed perfect; not a single scratch, even after fingerpicking! I was totally amazed by its topcoat-ness.

3. This bracelet combo
Both of these bracelets are from Forever 21 and they came in separate packages: the one with 'happiness' on it alone and the jeweled one with two other jeweled ones. I like how the bracelets look together because the thick chain contrasts against the daintiness of the other bracelet.

4. My polaroid camera
This camera is the Fujifilm instax mini 7s, purchased from Korea last year (but purchasable in Log On for you HK peeps). This week was the last week of school and I had to bring it with me to the last day. I made new friends this year and we went through so much together (GLEE!), and a polaroid camera is perfect to capture memories. I keep it in this cute little pineapple drawstring I got online.

5. Revlon's new site design
This favourite was super spontaneous. I literally just went on the site a few hours ago and I LOVE IT. The new design is gorgeous, presenting the products to you in a sleek, no-bull format. This favourite is probably one of my strangest but gush about it I will!

I am also super excited for all the new Revlon products and I am hoping they come to Hong Kong!

That's all for my June Favourites. I hope you've enjoyed this post and I'll see you next week!

Review: Revlon Whimsical

Hey guys :)

If you've seen my post from yesterday, I said I would do a review on the nail polishes I bought. So here I am! I'm going to review Revlon's Whimsical.

Bought in Sasa for $19.90

Whimsical is a baby blue polish with pink and blue hex glitter. The polish itself is sheer, so some may prefer to use this as a layering polish, rather than a colour polish, if you know what I mean.

The consistency of the polish is pretty smooth. The glitter is slightly harder to get onto the nail, but that's typical for glitter nail polishes. It gets easier for the glitter to transfer onto the nail after the first coat. It dries quickly, ten minutes tops.

For this I applied 3 coats of polish and a top coat

One thing that I absolutely love in this polish is that unlike most glitter polishes, the glitter in this one is so fricken easy to remove! A couple swipes of a remover-soaked cotton pad will do the trick.

Overall, I like this polish. The pastel blue is a perfect colour for the coming spring. It's not expensive at all, it's a unique colour, and if you are considering getting this, go for it!

On a totally different note, there has been an issue with my Instagram lately. Whenever I put hashtags on my pictures, the picture doesn't show up the the list of pictures that have the hashtag. So frustrating >:( Any of you guys experiencing/experienced the same thing? If you know how to solve this problem, definitely let me know!

That's it for today. Have a good day/night!

Revlon Dupes for Deborah Lippman

Hey guys :)

So this week I picked up a couple of Revlon nail polishes. Coincidentally, they happen to be Deborah Lippman dupes! Both of them are shades of blue, and I absolutely love blue polishes.

The first bottle is from Revlon's Parfumerie Scneted Nail Enamel collection. It's a new colour, righteously named Wintermint. The polish is a gorgeous glittery teal with blue and gold microglitter dispersed throughout. It retails in Sasa and Watsons for about HKD$60.

Wintermint is a nearly-identical dupe for DL's Mermaid's Dream. The only differences are that Wintermint contains less glitter, and the price is certainly a lot less!

The second bottle is also by Revlon, called Whimsical. The polish is a sheer baby blue with blue and pink hex glitters. It normally is sold for HKD$25, but recently in Sasa there's a mini sale going on, selling certain Revlon polishes for HKD$19.90.

The blue isn't showing up that well on camera :(

Whimsical is a dupe for DL's Glitter In the Sky. The differences are the size of the glitter, and again, the price.

I will probably do a polish review for both of them later on as I'm super excited to see how they turn out.

*UPDATE* Pinterest Money Saving Challenge
This week I'm up to the $3 mark but keep forgetting to put it in the piggy bank. However, I still am continuing the challenge, and look forward to see the $1378 at the end of the year!

That's all for today. Have a good day/night!
