Monthly Music Favourites: March 2014

Hey guys :)

It's time for another MMF! But first I would like to talk about something super disappointing: Once Upon A Time In Wonderland has been cancelled.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

OUAT In Wonderland is a spin-off of Once Upon A Time, an ABC show. It talks about Alice and her adventures in Wonderland. The show had a rough start, I have to admit, but then it slowly started to improve. However, people watched the first episode, thought it was boring, and didn't watch it again. Views decreased and now we have this disaster. It breaks my heart to know that is has been cancelled because the show had so much potential to develop into something awesome. I ship the Knave and the Red Queen (Red Knave forever <3), but now I'll never know what happens to them :(

Google

Anyways, enough ranting, let's get back to the music! This month I've been listening to a lot of soft, acoustic, sleep music.

1. Nina Nesbitt
First of all, she is gorgeous and her style rocks :) Her music is really cool and chill, and it just sounds comforting. Something about the guitar in the background of her songs... I love 'Selfies' and 'Stay Out', so go check her out! Her album 'Peroxide' is up on iTunes HERE. Also, watch her cover of The 1975's 'Chocolate'.

Obsessed with this hairstyle (@ninanesbitt on Instagram)

2. 'All I Want' by Kodaline
The music videos for this song are so sweet, that's all I can say (っ◕‿◕)っ♥

3. 'To Be Wanted' by Plug In Stereo ft. Megan and Liz
I discovered this song in the beginning of March and I couldn't wait to talk about it. This song has a meaningful message that everyone should hear: be patient and don't immediately fall for the next person that walks by!

I'm almost sure I had more songs to talk about but I can't think of which ones. Right now the weather is terrible, with a black rainstorm going on outside. SO glad I came home early! Fingers crossed it will last til tomorrow ;)

That's all for today. Have a good day/night!

Tag: Lazy Day

Hey guys :)

Yes, I missed yet another week of posting. It's nearly the end of term, and homework and assessments have been piling up. I haven't had a chance to take a breath!  I thought it would be fun to do a tag, since I haven't done one in quite a while, and I SO need a 'lazy day'. This tag was created by ilikeweylie on YouTube (go check her out!) so all credits go to her.

Let't get started!

1. What is your lazy day skin care routine?
I know it sounds bad but I am extremely lazy with washing my face. I do it occasionally, but not daily... I use the green barley bubble cleanser from innisfree, then the green tea pure skin toner, again from innisfree. For moisturizer, I use the green tea pure lotion, also from innisfree. As you can tell, I buy my skin products from innisfree! If my skin is feeling particularly dry, I turn to Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion for help.

2. What is your lazy day makeup?
I think I've said this in my last tag, but I don't wear makeup. I'm only fourteen, and it's not common for girls my age in Hong Kong to start wearing makeup. Natural beauty (?) all the way! Besides, why would you wear makeup if you're spending your day being lazy?

3. What is your lazy day hairstyle?
I would just leave my hair down. My hair is naturally curly so if I needed to be somewhere in an instant, all my hair needs is a brushing and I'm good to go.

4. What is your lazy day outfit?
Pajamas. No duh. Pajamas, a tee, and fuzzy socks and a hoodie if it's colder outside.

5. What is your lazy day scent/candle?
I am way too paranoid to burn a candle because I will most likely burn the place down. As for scent, I really like Tony Moly's Petit Art perfume mist in Fresh Green. It basically smells like green tea and it's awesome :)

6. What is your favourite lazy day pampering product?
The Body Shop's Chocomania body scrub leaves my skin feeling refreshed and smooth. Also, the ferrero rocher-esque scent makes me want to eat (even though that would be pretty gross :/)

7. What is your favourite lazy day drink?
Ovaltine, hands down. If you don't know what it is, it's basically a 'chocolate-y' malt drink that is quite popular around Hong Kong.

Easter break, come quicker :'( I am in desperate need of a break! BTW, I'll do the Barry M nail swatches during Easter break (in 2 weeks) because lately I haven't had the time to swatch them.

That's all for today. Have a good day/ night!

Marcha Ballerinas

Hey guys :)

This Sunday has been a real stay-at-home day. I had to catch up on some work I missed throughout the week because I fell sick :( The weather this week has been horrible, with grey skies, polluted air and whatnot. My nose is super sore from blowing into tissues and I'm done with it.

Anyways, last week my family and I went out to Harbour City to have a look at the new Marcha Ballerinas stand in LCX. The shop has a really cute market vibe and the flats that they sell are categorized into food or flower names.

courtesy of their Facebook page Marcha Ballerina Hong Kong :)

They come out with new designs every week or so, which I think is such a cool concept. It pulls in new customers because there'll be something for everyone, and it keeps old customers interested. They retail for $249 a pair, and any other pairs after that are $198.

My sister immediately fell in love with the brand and snapped up two pairs. I couldn't decide what design to go for since I haven't really found my personal style yet, so I just chose a basic pair of black quilted flats for school. I think these came in the section labelled 'Acai', not quite sure...

They are seriously SO comfortable! They soles are soft but not too thin, which help protect my feet from the uneven pathway I walk on to school. These shoes are not particularly special, but I love the way they look and feel. The bow is a nice touch ;)

The shoes are packaged in this really cool net drawstring bag, complimenting the market-esque theme of the brand. Honestly, we need more themed shops in HK!

Overall, I really like my new flats and I have a new-found love for Marcha. The shoes are totally affordable, but they are still cute and comfortable! If you haven't been yet, check them out at LCX, next to Starbucks.

That's all for today. Have a good day/night!

Bought A Ukelele!

Hey guys :)

Who's the worst at deadlines. ME!

I'm SO sorry for missing last weeks post. I was extremely busy with a history essay on the A-bomb, but it turns out I didn't do as well as I had hoped :( I guess I'll just have to improve next time.

Anyways, my parents bought me a ukelele as a late birthday present. It is absolutely beautiful and I treasure it so much! I got the Concert size because the Soprano ukelele was too small for my... *cough* big... frame. Basically, there are three sizes of ukeleles: Soprano, Concert, and Tenor. Small, medium, and big. Easy enough.

My parents bought it from this shop called UkeHK or Hong Kong Ukelele Store. The shop has a ton of ukeleles and accessories for all sorts of needs. If you have any free time, drop by the shop and have a look. They also have an online catalog that's pretty handy. Click HERE for their website and all the information.

I leave the ukelele on the standard tuning of AECG, and I can surprisingly tune it without the strings snapping! I've had horrible experiences with my acoustic guitar strings. I've snapped a few in the past and they really do hurt :( Once, when I just started learning how to play, I thought I tuning it fine, when it turns out I was tuning up to the next octave. The string snapped, hit (?) me, and I had a long, red line down my leg for a week. Ouch!

Everything about it excites me. The fact that I can actually manage a few chords just gets me giddy and high. The ukelele came with a booklet that had a ginormous list of basic uke chords and a few songs. I can play "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz. AHHHHHHH!

I've been practicing all week long, but my singing needs A LOT of work. Well, you know what they say, practice makes perfect ;)

Not a really long post today but more coming later!

That's all for today. Have a good day/night!
